The very first promise in Scripture is found in Genesis 3:15. This is the first promise given, and it is about the coming Messiah. After Adam and Eve sinned, God had to punish them, but as He dealt the punishment it came with a simple promise. God said that He would send a Savior to reconcile man to God. This Savior came as Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of God, He lived among men, preached the Gospel, and died for you and me. Our salvation is based on the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Adam and Eve were guilty before God and punishment was justly given to them, but not without this promise! What an amazing thing that the first promise in the Bible is one of redemption, reconciliation, and salvation! The promise is still there, the promise to be saved from our sin, to be reconciled to God and be redeemed! Have you accepted Him? Have you put your faith in Christ and repented of your sin? If not do so today!
