The Promises of God

Have you ever broken a promise? Or has there ever been a time when you made a promise and you forgot about it, and then didn't fulfill it, by mistake? Have you ever made a promise that you could not keep? Of course! We all have. It is so easy for us to make a promise, and sometimes easier to break it. We have God who has made some promises to us, He never breaks a promise! God is perfect and He always accomplishes what He sets out to do. God will never break His promises. Some of His promises are to His people Israel, and some of His promises are to the Church, us. But all His promises will come to pass. We can take great comfort in knowing that our Lord is able to keep His promises, and He doesn't forget them!
We will mention some of God's promises through the coming weeks, things like Hebrews 13:5 and Philippians 4:19

The Final Sabbath

We come to the end of our study of the Seven Unique Sabbaths in Luke. We have seen a lot of different events. We saw Jesus heal and perform miracles on the Sabbath, which the Pharisees did not like. We saw Jesus' gracious mercy extended on the Sabbath. Jesus fulfilled the Law!
Today we see the end of the Sabbath, Luke 23:56. Here we see Jesus has died on the cross, Joseph of Arimathea has given (borrowed) Jesus his tomb. So the women had come to the tomb to offer gifts to the body of Jesus. Of course they couldn't enter into the tomb, it was guarded by guards and a large stone, but that doesn't stop the ladies from grieving and doing all they can in their culture to mourn the loss of Jesus.
Jesus had risen from the dead the next day, Sunday. The Sabbaths were over, there would be no more Sabbath to follow. Jesus had fulfilled the Law and it was finished. O glorious day when Jesus arose! There are aspects of the Sabbath that we can follow, and perhaps we should follow. Sunday is not the new Sabbath, Sunday is the Lord's Day, it is a celebration of what our Lord has done for us. It is a day of reflection, rest and renewal, but not in a legalistic way. Nothing we do on Sunday will save us, though there are many things we can do that might help our spiritual lives. We need to be realize that though we do not celebrate the Sabbath, we should rest. What a wonderful end to the Law, so many rules and regulations were enforced upon the Jewish people, and now they were given freedom to worship the Lord!
I trust that this series has enriched your spiritual
