Core Values

At Maranatha Bible Church, we uphold three foundational values: Word, Worship, and Witness. These values shape the direction of our church and guide our mission to glorify God and transform lives.

1. Word - The Authority of Scripture
The Word of God is central to everything we do at Maranatha Bible Church. We believe that the Bible is divinely inspired, eternal, and transformative. It is not just a collection of ancient texts but the living revelation of God that directs our lives and shapes our faith.

2 Timothy 3:16-17: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."

John 1:1 : "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

The Word is not only authoritative but also equips us for every good work (2 Timothy 3:17). As a church, we prioritize teaching and applying Scripture, recognizing that it is God’s voice to His people. Furthermore, the Word reveals Jesus Christ as the Word made flesh (John 1:1), making Scripture not only a text to study but a means of encountering the living Savior.

We are committed to being a church rooted in the Word. Our preaching, teaching, and daily living must align with the truth of Scripture, leading us to grow in faith, worship, and witness.

2. Worship - A Response to God's Mercy
True worship at Maranatha is centered on God’s mercy, as revealed in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Worship is not about external settings or traditions but is about the condition of the heart and the transformation that occurs when we encounter God personally.

John 4:20-24: "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him."
Romans 12:1: "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."

Worship is a response to God's mercy and involves the whole self. It is a daily surrender of our thoughts, actions, and desires to God, recognizing all that He has done for us. True worship is Christ-centered, heartfelt, and Spirit-empowered. As we worship, we are drawn closer to Jesus and are compelled to share His goodness with the world.

3. Witness - Proclaiming the Gospel
As a church, we believe that our worship leads to witness. True worship transforms us, and this transformation compels us to share the gospel with others. We are called to be witnesses of the gospel, both in word and deed, as we reflect the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

Romans 12:1: "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."
Our mission to witness is empowered by the Word of God. It is through the Scriptures that we are equipped to share the gospel with clarity and conviction, reaching others with the message of Jesus Christ.

At Maranatha Bible Church, our values also reflect and inform not just what we do but how we view and measure spiritual growth in the life of a disciple. A Growing Disciple of Jesus:

Engages in the Word
Together on Sunday: A growing disciple values the Word of God as central to their life and faith. They prioritize gathering with the church body to hear biblical preaching and participate in worship rooted in Scripture.

In Small Groups: Disciples grow deeper in the Word when they engage in smaller, more personal settings, where they can discuss, ask questions, and encourage one another in applying God’s truth.

Every Day: A disciple is committed to personal study and meditation on Scripture, allowing the Word to shape their thoughts, actions, and decisions daily.
Engages in Worship-Through Serving: A growing disciple sees their acts of service—whether within the church or beyond—as expressions of worship. Serving reflects a heart surrendered to God and a desire to glorify Him through obedience and love for others.

Through Giving: Disciples worship through generous and sacrificial giving, this means their time, energy, effort, resources for the glory of God and the building up of His kingdom.

Engages in Witness-Corporate Witness: A growing disciple recognizes the importance of being part of a collective witness to the world. This includes active involvement in the church’s worship, outreach efforts, missions, and communal service projects that declare the gospel and display Christ’s love.

When we value Word, Worship, and Witness, we measure the effectiveness of our disciple-making efforts by how fully people are engaging in these areas. A growing disciple of Jesus is not just someone who attends church but someone whose life is being transformed by the Word, whose heart is lifted in authentic worship, and whose witness to others is compelling and Christ-centered.
